About

Dr. Varun Acharya obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Saveetha Dental College. He graduated at the top of his class and was selected as the Best Outgoing Student on graduation. He pursued his post-graduate education in the United States of America where he completed four years of post-graduate Prosthodontic training at the New York University, College of Dentistry. At NYU, he was a recipient of the Adisman Award for being the most outstanding graduating prosthodontic resident.

After NYU, he continued his post-graduate education at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Oncologic Dentistry. He is a recipient of the Famdent Outstanding Dentist of the Year 2018 & 2019, Implantologist of the Year 2021, and the Superstar “Above & Beyond” Award in 2022. Dr. Acharya completed the American Board of Prosthodontics certification exam making him the only American Board Certified Maxillofacial Prosthodontist practicing in India.

Dr. Varun has multiple publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and lectures both nationally and internationally.

Topic: Smart Solutions to Implant Prosthetic Challenges

Compromised treatments in implant dentistry are usually challenging for one often encountered reason - the implants are in the wrong location. Whether this placement was intentional or not, the patient now faces the dilemma of extensive surgery for implant removal, grafting and new implant placement. Another often encountered complication occurs when outdated implants require restoration but are seemingly impossible to carry out due to the non-availability of implant components.  In some of these difficult scenarios, treatment can be carried out successfully with unique prosthetic designs and out of the box thinking. This lecture focuses on highlighting the various ways in which an unfavorable situation can be managed effectively using prosthetic solutions, and also focuses on defining those situations where a prosthetic option, though technically possible, may not actually be the most prudent option.

Plan Perfect - A treatment planning workshop

This table clinic workshop aims to empower dental professionals with the knowledge and skills to develop comprehensive and effective treatment plans for dental implant cases. By showcasing a series of case pictures and radiographs, various clinical scenarios will be explored and key factors that influence decision making will be discussed. With an emphasis on evidence-based approaches, we will delve into the nuances of implant site assessment, bone quality evaluation, prosthetic considerations and esthetic variables. An emphasis will also be placed on devising cost effective treatment plans. Participants will gain practical insights and strategies to navigate the treatment planning process, transforming their visions into reality and ensuring optimal outcomes for their patients.
