Hands-On-Workshop
Title: Preemptive grafting with CTG to prevent and manage buccal soft tissue dehiscences around implants
Soft tissue dehiscences around implants can compromise both aesthetics and long term survival of the implant. Current therapeutic approaches that aim at tackling these deficiencies involve many biomaterials. This workshop focuses on the use of the autogenous connective tissue graft (CTG) as a handy, readily available solution for a clinician to tackle mild to moderate peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies.
Learning objectives:
- *Didactic component:*
- Understanding the causative factors for buccal peri-implant soft tissue deficiencies (PSTD)
- Learning classification of PSTDs for clinical decision making
- Understanding relevant anatomy and histology of peri-implant and palatal donor tissues
- Case selection-spotting the candidates for CTG grafting to manage buccal PSTDs
*Hands-on workshop:* step-by-step procurement of palatal CTG on models (maximum 10 participants) and suturing of donor and recipient sites.
Participants are requested to bring the following instruments for the hands-on:
- BP blade handle
- #15c BP blade (2 blades)
- Toothed tissue forceps
- 4-0 BBS sutures (2)
- Needle holder
- Scissors
