Abstract

Podium Seminar

Title: Applications of 3d printing technology to minimize complications in the rehabilitation of a reconstructed jaw by implant supported prosthesis following ablative surgery

Ablative surgeries in the Head & Neck region involve excising Maxilla, Mandible or both along with the associated soft tissues, causing vast defects and enormous morbidity in terms of Mastication, Deglutition, Aesthetics & Phonetics ultimately leading to poor quality of life with suicidal tendencies.

As Face is a Dynamic organ with complex Anatomy, defects of the Face and associated structures needs accurate assessment and planning in the restoration of Facial bones and functions, in this regard the gold standard in the Reconstruction & Rehabilitation of Facial defects is Applying 3D printing concepts and Reconstructing the Jaw by Micro vascular Fibula Flap followed by placement of End osseous implants to give the patient not only a visible and a functional face but also a viable prosthesis.

In the present world, 3D printing technology gives a Real time Imaging of the Patients problems and help the surgeons come up with custom made solutions to get the Facial contours and functions corrected.

This talk will show case a series of patients with Facial Defects due to Trauma, Tumors, Malignancies, and other reasons who all have a Reconstructed face and a Rehabilitated Jaw with Implants, applying the concepts of 3D printing technology enabling them good function.

Conclusion: 3D printing technology plays a pivotal role in the Resection of Facial bones, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of all the Facial defects and provide hope to those scarred faces to lead a good quality of life.

Hands-on Workshop

Title: Workshop On Direct Sinus Lift

To train enrolled participants in the science of Direct Sinus lift procedure to Augment Pneumatized Maxillary Sinus.

Posterior Edentulous sites in the maxilla over a period undergo extensive resorption leading to Pneumatization of the sinus which forbade an Implantologist to place an implant in the posterior quadrant and give dentition.

Direct sinus lift is a time tested and a scientifically proven procedure which helps the clinician to Augment the edentulous maxillary posterior sites and help the patients chew efficiently.

Plan: Each participant is given a Sinus model in a Phantom head or a Pig model and trained in the science of Direct Sinus lift using a Piezo and associated steps of Bone grafting.
